Lovable Disney Pixar Cars Movie Scheduled to Return
Fans of the animated hit, Cars will soon have several opportunities to remember the hit movie and a script.
Starting this October, Disney Channel, Toon Disney and ABC Family broadcast a series of three Animated short films (called Cars Toons) featuring the character of Mater the original movie car. Toon Disney show all three together in October, Disney Channel will repeat the series which starts in November and will include the ABC Family series as part of its annual "25 Days of Christmas" from Event programming Dec. 23.
Although the car was overtaken by other Pixar hits in initial popularity, including Wall-E and Toy Story, Disney Consumer Products reports that the franchise will generate a whopping $ 2.5 billion in global sales for 2008 alone or $ 5 billion dollars since its debut in summer 2006.
Pixar Animation Studios and Disney are working on a sequel to the movie Cars, Cars 2, which hit the big screen in the summer of 2011. Pixar said about the move, "The world's a racetrack as racing superstar Lightning McQueen zooms in action, with his best friend Mater in tow, to take on the world's fastest and best installment of this exciting new high-octane the "Cars" saga. Mater and McQueen will need their passports as they find themselves in a new world of intrigue, thrills and fast breaks to comic worldwide. "
All original characters will be friendly back with the same voice of celebrities, including Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, Bonnie Hunt as Sally, Paul Newman as Doc Hudson, Cheech Marin as Ramone, Tony Shalhoub as Luigi, John Ratzenberger as Mack, Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, and Michael Wallis as Sheriff. Additional stars will fill the new roles that no one has yet been appointed.
Cars Original has been a hit with young and old, having fun, even the history of the racing industry, including the exploits of the era early 1950 Hudson Hornet. Some critics have accused the writers to go back in time instead of in parallel current trends in the racing industry, but the response from fans has proved that the car was always successful.
