English Teddy Bear Makers
Collectors and indeed lovers of Teddy Bears have probably heard of the British Makers Teddy Bear, Dean, Merrythought, Chiltern and Chad Valley, but there were many other manufacturers of teddy bears since its birth in 1902 have come and gone and are not often heard.
Increasingly Teddy Bear makers are discovered, and although the big names are well known to many small manufacturers have now disappeared into obscurity.
Steevans Manufacturing Co. It's really very little is known about this company. We know that it was founded in 1908 and ceased all production in 1920. The teddy bear products were labeled with a metal button in the ear with the words "Steevans, England" written on it with a serial number embossed. However, many of these fine old teddy bears are left without any benchmarks. Because the plant survived for such a short period of time, these bears are very rare today. Because they are rare and endearing because they have good looks, they are highly sought by collectors. The sales manager Harwin, a Mr. Taylor had been employed as a salesman for the company Steiff, therefore, some similarities between the two brands. The company has ceased in 1930, but after suffering the effects of post-war depression.
Wendy Boston – Ken and Wendy Boston implemented a soft toy company in 1945 in South Wales. Wendy Boston revolutionized the manufacture teddy bears when they produced the first fully washable Teddy Bear in 1954. This company also been responsible for the teddy bear eyes pioneer security.
Wendy Boston focused on the production of teddy bears that were easy to maintain, what on washable synthetic fabrics, rubber and foam using as a joke. She began to make teddy bear shortly after, just to earn some pocket money. When John left the army after the war, he saw the potential by Daphne's teddy bear and he abandoned his work in furniture production to start trading in them. John has been financially supported by his friend Dudley wandlessly, John Dudley and develop business together in 1946.
John was the designer and the sheep is used with a silky shine. In 1967, they produced some 70,000 teddy bears.
In 1971, Daphne Plummer died and the company was sold. However, his teddy bear live on ….
A company of this most famous of the Teddy Bear was a bear called Tinka Bell, which was based on the famous fairy JM Barrie, Peter Pan. During the 1950's, this plush bear has been extremely popular indeed with literally thousands of them being manufactured and sold each week. Tinka Bell has many versions and sizes and are now collected by the sensors teddy bear in the world.
The British Teddy Bear certainly has tons of appeal to collectors, especially some of the old bear from the time of the First World War.
If you find an old British Teddy Bear, it is certainly worth buying, whether it's one of the most famous manufacturers or one of the most elusive leaders, some of which are listed above.
